Children will learn to sing, dance, and act; a real triple threat! They will do numbers from shows and build a repertoire of Musical Theater knowledge to last a lifetime.

Throughout the class, students will focus on scene work, character development, choreography, breaking down a song and auditioning for the stage.  Material used will be featured from current and past Broadway musicals.  (Musical may include Matilda, Finding Neverland, Mary Poppins, Aladdin, School of Rock, A Chorus Line, Annie, Lion King, Little Mermaid, West Side Story, etc.). This is a must for any theatre lover, dancer or singer!

This class will performs at the annual Middletown Dance Academy Recital in June.  There will be two group numbers and each student will be partnered with another and be assigned a scene from a musical.  They will use the skills they have learned throughout the year to sing, act, and dance in the scene.

September through December we spend delving into the basics of singing, acting, and dancing.  Through monologues, acting games, group vocal lessons, solo vocal work, and  group choreography, students will learn the basics of each, building a foundation they can use later on when they are assigned scenes that require them to sing, act, and dance.  This is the time to get a feel for the three arts on a more intimate level and strengthen your weaknesses.

January through May students learn their assigned scenes and group numbers in preparation for the final recital in June

A full list of what students are working on is provided on the calendar!
